Wall Lights, page 3 (329 items)

More than 320 wall lights to complete a central chandelier and finish the atmosphere of an interior. They come into their own at either side of a bed, along a staircase, in a hallway and by a mirror.

With selected ArtCrystal Tomeš collections you will find wall versions in the same cut of crystal and the same metal finish as the main chandelier. If no ready version exists for your chandelier, we will make one to measure — including the number of arms to suit the space on the wall. That makes it easy to bring the lighting of a whole interior together.

Switched on by themselves, they then give a soft, pleasantly intimate light in the evening. Every fitting is made in the Czech Republic from genuine Bohemian crystal.

Wall lights by style

A wall light can pick up quietly on the main chandelier, or become a detail in its own right that draws attention to a wall, a picture or a mirror. Choose by the style of the main fitting, by the character of the space and by what the light is for.

—   Crystal Wall Lights Traditional — glass arms, cut bowls and trimmings for classically furnished interiors and as a companion to a traditional crystal chandelier.

—   Wall Lights Crystal — compact fittings in which chains and cascades of crystal trimmings play the leading part.

—   Wall Lights Brass — a warm metal detail completed by crystal, from decorative castings to smoother, more modern shapes.

—   Maria Theresa Wall Lights — the characteristic arms with glass sleeves and rosettes, to match a chandelier of the same type.

—   Crystal Wall Lights Modern — clean silhouettes, smooth glass and contemporary forms for minimalist interiors as well as bolder ones.

—   Coloured Wall Lights — coloured glass and trimmings as a distinctive accent, which can follow a chandelier in the same finish.

Where a wall light works best

At either side of a bed they give a pleasant light for reading and for finding your way in the evening; by a mirror they light the face evenly; and in a hallway they add light at eye level to the central fitting. On a staircase they bring out the rhythm of the space and make moving between floors more pleasant. A pair of identical fittings reads as balanced, while in a long hallway the regular repetition of one model comes into its own.

For orientation or decorative lighting the centre of the fitting is usually placed 160 to 180 cm above the floor. Always adapt the height to the particular place and to what the light is for, though — above all to the sight line, to the furniture next to it and to the proportions of the space. The right position decides both the comfort in use and the overall impression of the interior.

On a staircase, position the fittings so that they do not dazzle as you walk. See how our customers solved the lighting in the article Staircase Lighting: A Symphony of Light in Interior Design.

A hallway and an entryway welcome you and your visitors. How to give them a pleasant light and make a good first impression is covered in the article Hallway and Entryway Lighting.

How to match wall lights with a chandelier

Would you like the chandelier, the wall lights and the lamps in one interior to read as a whole? For many ArtCrystal Tomeš chandeliers we offer wall versions from the same collection — with the same cut of crystal and the same metal finish. A table or floor lamp to go with them is then easy to choose.

You do not have to use the same model everywhere. It is enough for the fittings to share crystal, the colour of the metal or a similar shape. The chandelier provides the main light, the wall lights fill in by the bed, the mirror or in the hallway, and a lamp adds light where you read or rest.

Further practical tips can be found in the article Complementary Lighting Fixtures: Equip Your Interior with Luminaires in a Uniform Style.

What that looks like in a finished interior is shown in the article Family Wellbeing Begins with Perfect Lighting — a modern flat in the centre of Prague, where wall lights completed the main fittings in the living room, the bedroom and the children's room. The pair of fittings by the bed was made by ArtCrystal Tomeš at the customer's request, so that it forms a matched whole with the main fitting.

„Wall lights bring a sense of comfort into a space and underline its atmosphere. They complete the main lighting where its light does not reach, and in interiors without a central fitting they can take the leading part.

They are popular above all in restaurants, hotels and hallways, where they bring the practical and the elegant together. If we do not have a matching wall model for the chandelier you have chosen, we will gladly design and make one to measure, so that the whole space reads as one.“

Light for the evening and for everyday use

Switched on by themselves, wall lights create a softer, calmer atmosphere than the main ceiling light. With a dimmable source and compatible controls you can set their intensity for reading, for resting or for sitting together in the evening.

Why an interior works best with several layers of light is something we also write about in the article Interior Trends: Your Space, Your Story.

The bathroom and professional installation

For a bathroom, choose the fitting according to its position relative to the bath, the shower and the basin. A bathroom is divided into zones by the distance from water, and each of them carries a different requirement for the IP rating; what the abbreviation means is explained in the article What Does IP (Ingress Protection) Mean and Where Is It Used, and the choice for a particular bathroom in How to Choose Lighting for the Bathroom. For crystal wall lights the IP rating is not given in the specifications — so ask for it for the chosen model in advance.

With plasterboard, always check the fixing and the load-bearing capacity of the substrate; leave the installation to a qualified electrician.

In a bathroom, wall lights can complete the central chandelier and at the same time light the area by the mirror evenly. In a villa in Prague a pair of wall lights from the same collection completed the chandelier above the bath; their light reflects in the polished marble and brightens the whole interior.

Not sure about the choice or the layout? Send us a photograph of the interior and the dimensions of the place. We will prepare a visualisation of the fittings and of the whole arrangement free of charge.

Frequently asked questions
Can I see a wall light in person?

Yes. The models with the „Showroom“ icon can be seen at our showroom in Jablonec nad Nisou, the historic centre of Czech glassmaking.

In the furnished settings you will see how wall lights sit with chandeliers from the same collections, and you can compare their size, their finish and their light once switched on. Across 590 m² more than 250 fittings await you.

Which wall light should I choose for my chandelier?

The simplest is to choose the wall version from the same collection — it will have the same cut, the same type of glass and the same metal finish.

If the exact version does not exist, look for a shared element: the colour of the metal, the shape of the arms or the type of trimmings.

At what height is a wall light installed?

For ordinary use the centre of the fitting is usually placed roughly 160 to 180 cm above the floor.

By a bed, adapt it to the height of the headboard and to your position when reading; by a mirror, to the height of the face; and in a hallway, to the height of the passage.

How many wall lights do I need?

Beside a bed or a mirror a pair of fittings usually works. In a longer hallway or along a staircase it depends on the length, the width, the ceiling height and the rest of the lighting.

Treat wall lights as part of the whole lighting plan.

What cap do wall lights take and how many bulbs do they hold?

The most common cap is E14; E27 and G9 also appear. The exact figure is given in the specifications of every fitting.

Most models take one or two bulbs, and the richer versions three to six. Thanks to the small number of sources, changing them and cleaning are a matter of a few minutes.

Is a wall light suitable for a bathroom?

What decides is its position relative to the bath, the shower and the basin, and the IP rating prescribed for that zone. The IP rating for crystal wall lights is not given in the specifications, so ask for it for the chosen model in advance.

Always leave the installation to an electrician.

Can a wall light be dimmed?

Yes, if the particular model, the light source used and a compatible dimmer allow it.

Before you order, check the technical data; we will recommend a suitable combination of bulb and controls.
